At our working sawmill in Edinburg, NY, we turn local hardwood and softwood into custom lumber, beams, live edge slabs, and one-of-a-kind pieces for projects throughout the Adirondacks and beyond.
Local wood.
Milled with purpose.
Wood has always been at the heart of Steel Pines. Our sawmill gives us the ability to work with the material from an earlier stage, whether we’re milling lumber for one of our own builds, creating a custom order, or helping someone find the right slab for a project of their own.
We work with both hardwood and softwood, including walnut, maple, oak, cherry, pine, and fir, and can mill everything from rough-cut lumber and structural beams to wide live edge slabs.

Need lumber cut to specific dimensions? We mill rough cut lumber to order for construction, woodworking, and specialty projects, including boards, posts, beams, and shiplap.
Tell us what you’re building and the dimensions you need, and we can help determine what makes sense for your project.

Every slab is different, and that’s exactly the point. Our live edge slabs preserve the natural shape, grain, and character of the tree, creating one-of-a-kind material for furniture and architectural details.
Our slabs have been used for:
Dining and bar tops
Countertops and vanities
Fireplace mantels
Shelving
Benches and furniture
Custom woodworking projects
We keep a changing inventory of hardwood and softwood slabs available for sale and can help you find a piece suited to what you’re making.

Because our sawmill and construction work live under the same roof, we understand how milled lumber actually gets used in a finished structure. We can produce substantial posts, beams, and other lumber for barns, post-and-beam structures, homes, and specialty builds.
We also incorporate our own locally milled lumber into select Steel Pines construction projects, giving us another way to create details that feel specific to the home and the land around it.
Our Norwood LumberPro HD38 hydraulic sawmill allows us to efficiently mill both hardwood and softwood logs in a wide range of sizes.

Keeping local wood local.
We believe some of the best material for an Adirondack project can come from right here in the Adirondacks.
We make an effort to source locally and mill thoughtfully, reducing the distance timber travels while supporting local loggers and making better use of the trees available in our region.

Tell us what you’re working on and what you need. For lumber and slab inquiries, it helps to include the type of wood you’re looking for, your desired width, length, and thickness, a little about the project, and your location so we can discuss availability and delivery options.
